A guide to UK degrees and life at University for students (and staff)

There is no virtue in ignorance.

University should be a place where you become more learned. Whatever subject you are studying, more knowledge is always useful. Follow the links on this page if you wish to know more about art, literature, science and culture.

Art Guide
The Art Lover's Guide to Britain and Ireland
This is an excellent guide to art collections. It's particularly useful if you wish to find out where you can view  works by a specific artist. For instance, did you know that 'Adoration of the Magi' by Hieronymus Bosch can be seen at Petworth House in West Sussex

Arts and Letters Daily
A magnificent site, full of links to articles from around the world

Feed Magazine
Contains articles on culture, technology and media. You may not want to read all of i,t (you probably won't have time), but there is bound to be something there which interests you

Gates of Heck
A site for people interested in the cultural fringe

MuseumNet
Lists museums in the UK. Did you know  there was a museum in Coventry dedicated to the TV series 'Alien Nation'?

National Museum of Science and Industry
A great museum and not a bad web site either

Salon
Books, films, comics, technology, people, etc. Rather American, so some of the cultural references can be difficult to understand, but it definitely rewards perseverance

Scientific American
This is a great magazine. The web site has selections from the magazine on line, plus some interesting links

SciTech Daily Review
Spend an hour every day reading the articles to which this site links. Wonderful!
